Another great video wrap-up of the weekend from Simon Biswas. He says there’s more to come…we’re holding you to that, Simon. Everyone is dying to see the portraits you made!
Don’t miss this beautiful slideshow by MJR’s Ying Ang from the LOOKbetween weekend. Roughing it has rarely looked so lovely.
Wow, how did we not hear about the UFO landing in the camping field?? JK — Great photo!

Great photo, Ryan. Thanks for the shout-out and glad you had a great time. People like you made it what it was :)
The amazing people behind the LOOK3 Festival “hosted an experimental two night event to present the work of 90 innovative photographers on a farm 30 minutes west of Charlottesville” called LOOKbetween. Thanks to Laura Brunow Miner, I was fortunate enough to meet up with fellow PHOOT campers Steph Goralnick and Paul Octavious in New York City and roadtrip down to Virginia for the weekend. We swam in the lake, played bean bags near the campfire and even managed to squeeze in some small-group discussion time with the rest of the presenters and various other members of the photo community. Overall I was blown away by the work I saw and the people I met who managed to make the trek. Big thanks to Andrew, Jenna and Miki (and the rest of the LOOK3 people) for all their hard work in pulling off such a wonderful event. Above is a look at the projection screen where we showed work. Thanks to Morgan Ashcom and Simon Biswas for helping make this photo happen.
“Everything about this festival was inspiring….It made my German heart skip a beat. I am so thankful that I got to be a part of this!
I really appreciate everything you did for us young photographers. For a few days you gave us a reason to keep on working for a long time. I feel inspired and bursting with new ideas and energy. I can’t wait to get started!!”
The weather was perfect. Deep Rock Farm was beautiful. The shows were inspiring. The conversations full of energy. It was over too quickly. But it’ll live on a little longer here. Thanks everyone!
“I wanted to write and thank you for putting together such a wonderful weekend. I drove out of there exhausted, to be sure, but supercharged in terms of new ideas, creative inspiration, and just a general sense that there are a bunch of good people out there who are really thinking hard about how to make the media that we produce and consume more valuable. In a word, I had a blast, and I can’t wait to get out there and report the next story.”
